Strings of beads across low back beaded wedding dress Silk satin full skirt with ostrich feather trim Hexham wedding

Emily

My sister Emily always said she’d wear the ostrich feather dress that Ginger Rogers wears in the film Top Hat on her wedding day…. Luckily I knew where to buy the feathers! The original dress was made in the 1930s, so using this style as a starting point we looked at using crystal and silver beadwork over a layer of subtle ivory beaded lace on the bodice and oyster silk satin with ostrich feathers in swirling seams at the hem. We kept the back low with strings of crystal beads delicately draped across. Once David knew Emily was having a dress made, he wanted an outfit too. Not being a formal dresser, he opted for a waistcoat and trousers in olive green check wool in a vintage style. Their big day was surrounded by flowers and nature, just how they wanted, at the Garden Station in Northumberland.
